The pedagogical project of ENSA-Marseille comes under the scope of the architectural studies reform, whose texts were published in 2005 in the Journal Officiel (Official Bulletin).  This reform adapts the teaching of architecture in France to the principles established in the Sorbonne’s declaration of May 25, 1998 and Bologne’s of June 19, 1999, aiming at a European harmonization of higher education.

It adopts its main general principles and in particular : two cycles in initial training, bachelor’s degree and master’s (or equivalent), doctorate in Architecture, a semestrial organisation of studies and the system of European credits*.

The organisation of the ENSA-Marseille pedagogical program answers to the general systems, which  favour, at the same time, partnerships along with other establishments of higher education, in France (Universities or higher education schools …) and the cooperations, between the establishments of architecture education in Europe, which organise the mobility of students and teachers.

*The European credits: the European Commission decided to adopt the ECTS System, English acronym of European Credit Transfer System, to favour an optimal mobility for students and teachers. Its application makes it easy to acknowledge the students’ academic results, made possible by the use of a study system understood by all in the same way. The ECTS credits represent under a corresponding numerical value (between 1 and 60) to each teaching unit, the related amount of work that the student is supposed to provide. They express the quantity of work that each teaching unit requires compared to the overall workload needed to pass one semester of study (30 ECTS), or a complete year (60 ECTS). The ECTS credits are assigned to the teaching units and not to the teaching itself. They are only granted after the validation of these teaching units.
